A Fork Bracelet!
Or rather, a bracelet made out of a fork! It's only my first, just a little experiment, but i think I'm gonna make more, for sure!:)

I just painted a little flower, symbol style, with a real sketchy dry brush technique
And of course, my gorgeous model, and close friend wore it in our photo shoot today:)

Side Project

As you know, I am an aspiring artist! I've been doing pretty good at keeping myself busy working, but i also live in a small space with another person. Although my boyfriend is endlessly patient, (and i really love him for that:) it's time to clear out some crap, for lack of a better word. So as i was stacking up my paintings and thinking about what i have that i can get rid of/don't use anymore i noticed my growing pile of magazines.

This isn't even all of them!

I never read my magazines more than the couple of weeks it takes me to read them ( i have a process of going through and looking at the ads, then a few days later reading the articles, and then a few days after that surfing it again to see if i missed anything, i know, weird)But something about the covers caught my eye and i dragged them out onto my work desk and started surfing through them again, and i thought of a great idea!! I LOVE the idea of an inspiration board, and I've never made one! So why not start now! With all the things in these magazines that i love!? Sometimes all it takes is one word, or color, or image to spark an idea for a new painting. So i started cutting out all my favorite parts of each magazine and sorting them by title.

Also, in case you were wondering, this desk is really an old kitchen table and it's about 4 ft or more across......

My original thought was to put it all on the small (ish) canvas laid out under this collage, but i have too much stuff! And i want to keep it all! So it looks like im going to be looking for a very large piece of corkboard, or several small pieces to fit it all! So much for a "small" project:)

Recipe for a healthy snack...

Well okay, it isn't really a recipe, but it is really yummy:) Fresh strawberries, low fat mozzarella sun-dried tomato basil laughing cow cheese, and all natural popcorn thins:) Serves 2-3

Surprise!

Someone did the absolute most nicest thing for me today! When i came into my painting studio, there was a note, saying "THIS IS BEAUTIFUL!" on my easel next to my newest painting! How sweet is that!? It was made all the more special because the painting is about my mom. And that is a subject that has been pretty tough as of late. We recently found out that she has breast cancer, so receiving praise, however small, about my hard work on something like that, is a BIG deal. It was really sweet:) And it made my day:)

........ Sometimes I REALLY hate technology, almost as much as it seems to hate me. Due to a cruddy internet connection a download of 111 pictures failed after i waited for 110 to download (so close!) And then i decided to re organize my online albums, and when i did so it deleted all previous web links to those images whose files i moved.....SO NOW MY BLOG POSTS ARE GONE! GAH! Anyway, what do you think of the new design?

Eating Healthy...

....IS SO HARD!! I buy organic groceries from wegman's and i make healthy dinner, eat healthy snacks, but in the back of my head i can't help but thin about chocolate! Or ice cream! So far i have resisted the urge to indulge, but it has only been three days. I CAN DO THIS! I'M GOING TO DO THIS! Working out on the other hand, totally easy, i LOVE it. I could do it all day, well no, and I'm sore a lot, but at least I'm making progress right!? Here's to a healthy lifestyle and hopefully some weight loss! What do you do to stay healthy?


On other frontiers, i have realized i almost missed my calling! Well not really, i've always loved to paint, especially with oil, but when i started this painting class this semester I'm beginning to realize i could seriously have a future in painting, and it is SO exciting! I've gotten so much better in just a semester I'm amazed at myself, i never knew i had it in me! But that's not to say i won't photograph, i'll always love that:) What's your calling?

Elements For A Super Fun Speakeasy!

Hello everyone! So this coming Saturday i will be attending a speakeasy (1920's) themed benefit for muscular dystrophy. Because it is for a good cause (and has an awesome theme!!) I went to find, and now have a great outfit. So i will now proceed to overload you with my pre- party shots:) I will be posting more from before the event when i'm actually wearing makeup and look nice:)

P.S. My dress was found at my local Salvation Army for under twenty dollars. I think it was a tad too expensive for salvo, but it was the perfect one. Go figure. Whad'ya gonna do?
